Neuroprotection
10-50ug/mL of a Pueraria Mirifica extract in hippocampal cells subject to excitotoxic stress induced by glutamate, with 50ug/mL of this extract having similar protective potential as 132ug/mL Trolox (water soluble form of Vitamin E).[16] The antioxidant potential of this extract, thought to underlie the protective effects, in a DPPH assay was that of having an EC50 value of 0.192mg/mL, which was far less than that of Genistein (13.794mg/mL) and Daidzein (14.257mg/mL) and even the synergistic mixture of the two (7.558mg/mL) suggesting other antioxidant compounds of far greater potency.[
