3.2. Head rice yield (HRY)
The HRY increased during the initial storage period for all the
grains stored in silos (Fig. 1). The regression analysis that was performedusingthe
storage periods andtheHRYs resultedin a quadratic
equation with R2 values of 0.6732 or 0.5282 for the rice that was
stored in the silos that were equipped or not equipped with exhausters,
respectively. The HRY was maintained in the grains that
were stored in the silos equipped with exhausters for up to 6months,
compared to 3 months for the grains stored in silos without exhausters;
therewas a 1.49% decrease intheHRYwhenthe grainswere
stored for 9 months, even in the silos equipped with an exhauster
system(Fig.1).The reductionin theHRYduring storagewas greater in
the grains that were stored in the silos that were not equipped with
the exhausters where there was a 2.45% and 2.17% reduction in the
HRY of the rice grains stored for 6 and 9 months, respectively.
