I grew up in the country and often found myslef a lone as a child, since most friends lived 10+ miles away. Rarely was there any big festivals or events, malls were a 2hr drive away, and I felt that most people who bragged about country living as being the best because of the succlusion just sat in their homes and watched TV. Teen & young heroine drug rates were out of control, because farming had gone out and there was hardly any business, and therefore I felt like most young adults feel board and hopeless, because they don't know of anything else. If you want healthy socializing opportunities and new experiences on a regular basis, along with less worry that you children will turn to drugs for something to do, urban living is the healthier option these days. I'm so mush happier living urban now, and national statistics prove that it's better. People in rural areas of the US have much higher rates of depression, obesity, as well as a shorter life expectancy.
