5. Alleged yakuza member extradited
Authorities yesterday extradited an alleged South Korean yakuza member who faces charges in Japan including attempted murder.
Commandos of the Crime Suppression Division(CSD) took Yoshizo Boko, 45, from Bangkok Remand Prison to CSD headquarters, where staff of the Japanese embassy picked him up and took to Suvarnabhumi airport for a flight to Japan.
Mr Boko is a member of a yakuza organization called Yamaguchi-gumi, Japanese authorities say.
He is accused of being involved in an attempted murder in Osaka on Oct 1,2006, before he escaped to Thailand.
Officers of the Department of Special Investigation arrested him in 2009 and he was then detained at Bangkok Remand Prison.
The Criminal Court approved his extradition on Aug 23 this year.
