While the UK is currently not engaged in any ground wars, David Cameron has signalled his desire to extend airstrikes on ISIS militants from Iraq to Syria.
Many defence experts now believe Britain could be gearing up to put boots on the ground in the region.
Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said the new look uniform was proof the Government was committed to providing the army with the latest kit.
He said: "In an uncertain world, it is vital that we continually look at the future threats our Armed Forces might face.
"The Future Soldier Vision, which is supported by the protected Defence budget, our £160 billion equipment plan and the very best of the UK's science and technology expertise, demonstrates our commitment to ensuring our soldiers have the kit they need to keep our country safe.
