self-pity is feeling sorry for yourself without looking at the good things in your life. Although it is normal now and then to feel sorry for yourself, con. tinually talking about your problems and dwelling on them causes others to avoid you. Your coworkers would soon tire of hearing a "poor me" mono. logue such as: "I'm so tired. I work here all day. Then I go home and meet the challenges of my house and family. The next morning, I get up and start all over again. My stays home all day and has time to shop and play golf. I'll never have that kind of luxury." This kind of self-pitying talk is exhausting to you and to those around you. Self-pity is not a productive behavior. Pity parties" can result when this trait takes over. The bad thing about a pity party is that no one else wants to attend. Recognize self-pity for what it is, then turn your thoughts to the things in your life that are working well, and move forward.
