than in the MPSs alone. The XRD reflections of the anatase
in composites containing ST-01 are broader than in the
composites containing P25. The SBET values of the composites
are 730 and 740 m2/g for the composites P/M and
S/M, and 680 and 650 m2/g in the composites P/T and S/T,
respectively. These differences in SBET values are attributed
to differences in the MPSs, but the values are 77–90%
lower than the calculated SBET values of the SiO2 and TiO2
sources alone. The bulk chemical compositions of the four
composites vary slightly between the samples (Table 1),
the TiO2 contents in the composites containing MPS(M)
being higher than in those containing MPS(T) due to the
effect of the TiO2 already present in MPS(M). The composites
containing ST-01 show slightly lower TiO2 contents
than the composites containing P25 for reasons that
