Conducting business with governments is not the same as conducting business with private parties. These interactions often are covered by special legal rules.
Many countries, including the United States, have passed legislation criminalizing bribery of government officials.
The U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) covers:
U.S. citizens and U.S. companies wherever they are located
non-U.S. citizens employed by U.S. companies
U.S. residents even if they are not U.S. citizens
foreign citizens or entities when they are engaged in activities in the United States
Most of the countries in which our company does business maintain laws that prohibit bribery of government officials. Consult the company legal department to ensure that you are aware of, understand, and abide by these rules.
