This study has demonstrated the highly dynamic nature of the longer-term, late Quaternary evolution of a playa margin, which is expressed by the variety of small- and medium-scale depositional and erosional landforms. While this may complicate the use of
playa marginal records as linking elements between shoreline and lacustrine records, these archives e in particular over the Holocene e potentially allow a detailed reconstruction of the interaction between fluvial, lacustrine, shoreline and aeolian processes which is required to understand the link between hydroclimate and
sediment transport on the one hand, and magnitude or duration of lake highstands on the other hand.
