Hardware and software on the devices
allow for digital content to be overlaid on any
physical area that can be reached by the user.
In the near future, AR glasses such as the kind
being produced by Google (Bilton, 2011) are
expected to reach the marketplace. The global
market for such wearable devices is estimated to
jump to $1.5 billion annually by 2014 (Shalvey,
2012). Such glasses hold the potential to make
AR an infinitely more common experience for
the general public.
