Internet Service
Cisco offers end-to-end Internet services to improve a network manager’s ability to cope with challenges posed by the growing popularity of the Internet, such as network traffic volume and network address shortages. Cisco drives architectural consistency across the company by focusing on standards-based services between clients and servers such as end-to-end quality of service and end- to-end security. These products include: Cisco PIX® Firewall, which prevents unauthorized access to a network; the Cisco Secure Scanner, which scans the network for security risks; the Cisco Intrusion Detection System, which detects and responds to unauthorized activity or network attacks; Cisco VPN Client 1.0, which ensures data privacy when accessing the network remotely; Cisco LocalDirector, Cisco Content Engine, and Cisco DistributedDirector, which balance the load between multiple servers to enable timely access and to eliminate redundant Internet content; and the Cisco Server Suite 1000, which consists of server applications with a graphical user interface.
