CALARIS contains mesotrione and terbuthylazine. Mesotrione is a systemic herbicide readily taken
up and translocated through leaves, stems and roots. Terbuthylazine is contact herbicide with
strong residual activity.
CALARIS controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds including difficult to control weeds such as
Black Nightshade, Cleavers, Groundsel, Fumitory etc.
CALARIS also controls Annual Meadow-grass.
Spray timing is flexible, from the two to eight leaf stage of the crop. Best results will be achieved
from the 4 to 6 leaf stage of the crop, while weeds are still small and the crop canopy does not
shield weeds from the herbicide.
Dose rate is flexible. Use 1.0l/ha on susceptible weeds up to the four true leaf stage. Use 1.5l/ha on
larger weeds, where longer residual activity is required or where Annual Meadow-grass, Knotgrass,
Cleavers or Field Bindweed are particular problems. (See weed susceptibility chart overleaf)
CALARIS is exceptionally safe and can be used on all maize varieties.
No rotational restrictions apply for following grass or cereal crops. Some other crops require
an extended interval between CALARIS application and sowing (see chart overleaf).
