Data were collected on nineteen inpatient units at a tertiary
medical center in Lebanon which has 300 beds, was Magnet
designated in 2009 and has 600 nurses, 90% of whom have a bachelor
degree in nursing. The nurse to patient ratio is one nurse to 5 patients
in open units and one nurse to one or two patients in the critical care
units (CCUs). The units included; medical, surgical, oncology, bone
marrow transplant, and five CCUs.
