We do not want to be burdened by this task, considering it beneath our professional work or studies or whatever. At other
times we may clean the temple, but we fail to see any virtue in doing so. We
convince ourselves that it is a necessary social service and simply
condescend to clean it because nobody else will. However, even though we acknowledge that cleaning the temple
may be necessary, we harbor resentment about it and proceed to do so
only for the sake of social nicety.
