Check with the exchange office of your home institution for the application procedure to become an exchange student. You need to fulfil the admission requirement set by the faculties of HKU and be nominated by your exchange office to HKU;
After we received the nominations from your home institution, we will send you the invitation email to our online application system after the deadline of nomination. Please complete the online application form as soon as possible so that you can receive your admission letter on time around June.
English Proficiency Requirement
Since we have a strict rule that all applicants have to provide supporting documents for their English Proficiency in the system, please note the following and upload the related document which is the most appropriate:
A. Applicants whose native language is not English, and the medium of instruction of home institution is not English, must provide evidence of a sufficient level of English proficiency as following:
· 80 in TOEFL (iBT) (97 for Faculty of Law), or
· 6.5 in IELTS (7.0 with no subtest below 6.5 for Faculty of Law)
For others, you may also submit IELTS or TOEFL if you have one, or you may refer to any 1 of the followings if you meet with the mentioned condition.
B. Applicants whose native language is English, and the medium of instruction of home institution is English, will have to seek a letter signed by your exchange coordinator. We have already sent the sample of the letter to our partner coordinators.
C. Applicants whose native language is English, and the medium of instruction of home institution is not English, will have to seek a letter signed by your exchange coordinator. Please email us at exchange@hku.hk and request for the related letter (with email subject as “Asking for supporting letter for English Proficiency”.
D. Applicants whose native language is not English, and the medium of instruction of home institution is English, will have to seek a letter of recommendation from an academic staff to prove your English Proficiency.
