In addition, our study presented no statistically significant
differences between men and women, in agreement with the study of Zerwic et al. (2003) and in contrast with other studies
showing that women delayed their arrival at the hospital after
AMI when compared with men (Gibler et al. 2002; Richards et al.
2002; Ting et al. 2008).
Many researchers in the past found that
women delayed their arrival at the hospital because they believed
that AMI is a primarily disease of men.Most of the women in our
study seemed to recognize the symptoms of AMI and did not
believe that heart diseases are associated only with men.
