It is critical to have an understanding of the factors that influence sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and development of Carib- bean adolescents, aged 10 –19 years. However, for policy makers, program planners, and providers alike, until recently, informa- tion has been quite limited on the factors influencing adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) in the Caribbean region. Specifically, since Blum et al published their 1997–1998 survey including approximately 15,500 young people in nine of the 19 countries of the Caribbean economic community, only one review has been published [8 –10]. As countries in the Caribbean become increasingly aware of the need to address youth health, interventions and policies must be based on the best and most current information for them to be effective [11].
