Although I went to sleep feeling very tired and unhappy, I woke up the next morning feeling much better. Nothing had happened to me during the night and the weather had changed. It was as if the storm had never happened: there was no wind, the sky was a beautiful blue, and it was very hot. And there was something even better: I looked out to sea nd saw the ship. I thought it would have been destroyed, but there it was. The wind had moved it in the night and it was only about a kilometer away from the beach. Seeing it so close, I realized that if we'd stayed on the ship, everyone would probably have lived. Instead, I was the only person left alive. The thought of all my dead friends made me cry like a small child.
