Many companies do some things very well. An example of this would be a company with an excellent shop floor or work unit control system, but little else. The computer part of this system may have been programmed in-house, and may contain some excellent features for the users. Let’s assume that the supply chain software package selected by this company contains a shop floor control module that’s workable, but not as good as the current system. This company should not
blindly replace its superior system with the new, inferior one. Save the good stuff. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
