As can be seen from the results, the focus during the interviews was mainly on the
input criteria, especially when considering the criteria that suppliers should fulfil.
When discussing the contractor’s contribution to the relationship, throughput was
mentioned the most number of times. A possible reason for this might be that the
strategic purchasers that were interviewed are very much involved in throughput
activities since working with them all the time, making them easier to come up with,
but also because they are easier to grasp. Nevertheless, even if many of the responses
concerned activities, a clear indication of the need for relationship enablers can be seen.
