GETTING MEANING
FROM CONTEXT
Our edge over God’s other creations is our ability to think and make judgments
regarding things and situations around us. For us not to demonstrate this ability is to shortchange ourselves.
We are constantly exposed to situations where we can make full use our senses.
We can save ourselves from many of life’s problems if we properly use our sensibilities to analyze these situations.
Using Context Clues
1. Listen carefully as your teacher reads the first part of each conversation.

Ian: What's that?

Bus Driver: Nah! It's only about half a mile.
Leyland: Really! Well, it's a nice day today, and I'm not in a hurry.
And if it's that close... hmm . . .
Bus Driver: C'mon, buddy! Are you getting on the bus or not?
Leyland: Sorry, driver. I'll just walk to Central Avenue.
