A.M. Kitco Metals Roundup: Comex Gold Extends Wed. Afternoon's Strong Gains
Thursday September 19, 2013 8:36 AM
(Kitco News) - December Comex gold futures prices are sharply higher in early U.S. trading Thursday and have extended Wednesday afternoon’s sharp gains that came after the U.S. Federal Reserve’s Open Market Committee meeting. December Comex gold was last up $62.80 at $1,370.30 an ounce. Spot gold was last quoted up $5.20 at $1371.00. (The big disparity between the daily price changes on spot gold and Comex futures is because the official price settlement time for the futures market came before the FOMC meeting’s results Wednesday afternoon. On occasion there are significant differences between the daily price changes in spot gold and gold futures, and it is because of the different daily price settlement times.) December Comex silver last traded up $1.621 at $23.19 an ounce.
