This research reviews a survey of yeasts associated with bees and their food resources. Thus in Chapter 2, Part 1 discusses the honeybee Apis cerana. Part 2 focuses on an overview of yeast ecology. Part 3 incorporates the methods for isolation, characterization and maintenance of yeasts. Chapter 3 describes the methodology for yeast isolation, yeast grouping and ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) sequencing. Chapter 4 demonstrates the distribution of sugar tolerant yeasts in native Thai bees. The final
chapter provides a conclusion of the findings in this research and suggestion for future works.
