The test administration took place in the second semester of academic year 2009. The test was distributed to the
participants into three classes on the last day of the semester. In this regard, the author administered the test. Before the
test administration, the participants were informed that the first part of the test required the participants to complete
their personal information, whereas the second part asked them to identify the stressed syllable in each word by marking
an X that corresponds to the syllable they perceived to place a stress on. In order to assess the real these participants’ competence, they were also informed that the test results would be kept confidentially, and the results of the test would
be beneficial for the research study and improving teaching English.
