I hope all is going well. This year we have seen some good improvements come from our teams working together in the Milk Run and in plant support areas and K Kai and I thought that we could send a brief email summarizing some of this good work.
We also look forward to finding more mutual benefits for both of us to create a longer term relationship.
Commercial and cost reductions
• In Feb we reviewed the new pricing rate for transport and submitted the 2nd addendum which related to your new forecast
• This new pricing mechanism saved GM in excess of 400K per month
• We continued to respond to the local fuel rate changes which have provided over 2.8 M this year
• We reviewed and reduced our office rental costs by moving and working at a different location to A7
• We shared the fuel saving after we implemented steel table in a couple of trucks saving 20K per month
• We Re-designed our routes for new package improvement and saved a further 450K this year
On top of this we hit and exceeded some very important targets of utilization which drives more savings and efficiencies such as;
Operational and Efficiency improvements
• Improving truck utilization from 50% to over 80% in October
o We implemented a new design steel table on a couple trucks to improve their utilization by 50%
o The first design has been improved on and the next one will be even better bringing more savings
o We changed to 10 Wheels truck reducing 6 wheels trucks to improve truck utilization which improved it by another 30%
o We submitted the low utilization package items to GM packaging engineer as improvement opportunities and then supported to re design routing improving it by 40%
In-Plant Support
• Our in plant team of dock monitor and customer management has supported GM well all year working long and hard to achieve your expectations
• They have responded to many changes in the dock monitoring and recording quickly
• Every day they look for more utilization and improvement opportunities with the planning team and monitor to find re routing opportunities
• They contact the suppliers or customers at the time of need not delayed so everyone can ensure the line production is not effected
• Our call centre team is on constant real time alert to react to any issues that they are notified
• We respond to all urgent part requirements to ensure production line is supported 100% of the time
DHL Transport
• Our drivers are some of the best in the industry, supporting us by following Thai laws and ensuring risks avoided for both GM & DHL
• They have learnt to look for problems at the suppliers / customers facilities and notify our call centre ASAP to avoid many issues – many I’m sure even we are not notified about
• They have extremely high performance from our safety department following all requirements
DHL Track & Trace
• We have moved our track and trace employees to the new Control Tower in BKK to ensure that your services are in a state of the art facility
o This is a great high tech place you can bring your management or customers to show how you are looking after their investments or cars / trucks before delivery
DHL Planning – K Kai and K Boy
• Our planning team under K Kai and K Boy supervision have learnt a lot over the last year and now offer only the best network / Milk Run solutions for GM
• They like me are committed to manage this account 100% of the time ensuring that we are aware of any potential risks or developing many alternative plans behind the scenes ever day
• They have built a great team at the ESLC that are also as committed as they are to provide you a great service for long term satisfaction
