The year of presentation had no significant influence on the risk of late or very late presentation to our department. However, there was a trend of lower risk of late presentation in the years 2001–2005 compared to the pre-HAART era before 1996 (univariate analysis: OR 0.68, 95 % CI 0.32–1.43, p = 0.31). In the multivariate analysis, the OR was 0.74 (95 % CI 0.33–1.68) (Table 2). Also, in those presenting very late, the lowest risk occurred in 2001–2005 (multivariate analysis: OR 0.70, 95 % CI 0.27–1.83).
