The culture shock was completely overwhelming. The tourism didn't seem like it was satisfying enough. So many things could go wrong. What's my point here? It wasn't until I was standing under the scorching sun bright red from sunburn, sweat dripping from every pore, air thick with pollution and dust, covered in cement, grime, spider, ant and mosquito bites that I felt completely at home. I became completely content wearing clothing from the region, communication in a different language, being completely absorbed in my surroundings and this new way of life. This is what I wanted- an overwhelmingly emotional experience that cannot be fathomed to others. This is satisfaction I have never felt before.
Experiencing new cultures, traveling and helping have become my own personal drug.
