BEHAVIOURAL DIMENSION
"Am I Able to be Emotionally Intimate With Another in Appropriate Ways?"
Sexually, there are some who exhibit unmanageable avoidance behaฬours. They virtually turn off their sexuality. This lack of sexual expression may be an attempt to control painful memories of sexual trauma or the anxiety of future acting out. There are others who are sexual addicts and continue to get involved in repetitive behaviours that are degenerative and destructive. Neither "Acting In" nor "Acting Out" is healthy sexual behaviour. We need to develop healthy relationships by maintaining appropriate boundaries.
The beha vi oural dimension is not limited to sexual behaviour. It also includes behaฬours that facilitate or prevent a person from being emotionally present and available to relationships. An example of such unavailability is getting over-involved in work in order to avoid spending time with people.
