recently demonstrated that the HPLC
method coupled to fluorescent detection is an efficient technique
for the determination of high concentrations of glutamate in the different
central nervous areas. Although this methodology represents
an interesting assay for measurements of tissue glutamate levels,
alterations in glutamate uptake are firstly identified at the micromolar
range, which creates the necessity for an assay that allows
exact measurements of tiny differences in the concentrations of
this neurotransmitter [23].
