Nurses who interviewed the patients produced the written
records describing patients’ problems as signs and symptoms
as they usually did without additional training before the
study. The other nurse, both with similar levels of work
experience in psychiatric wards, evaluated the same written
records to compute inter-rater reliability of the nursing
diagnoses and defining characteristics. The written records
were kept and evaluated again one month later by the same
nurse who interviewed the patients to count the intrareliability
of the nursing diagnoses.
