Ideally, Malaysia should follow the best practices used in other countries by designing a system in which the minimum wage would be reviewed regularly (every one or two years by a pre-set date). The review process should take into account reliable technical information on pre-set criteria that include key socioeconomic factors. This information should be complemented by any studies that take into account other relevant factors not considered in the pre-set criteria.
