To improve its OSH standards, the Lao Government
recognized the need to stimulate support and efforts
from all stakeholders: the Federation of Trade Unions,
the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and
various government organizations.
Hence, the National Occupational Safety and Health
Programme 2005–2010 was introduced to guide
national efforts towards better OSH performance. There
is strong tripartite commitment for the programme,
and the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare has
taken a personal interest in ensuring its successful
implementation.
