Precursor synthesis
Single-source molecular precursors Cu(II)[S2CNC4H10]2 and
Pb(II)[S2CNC4H10]2 were synthesized based on previously published
methods.10 Briefly, Cu(II)Cl2, Pb(II)Cl2, and sodium
diethyldithiocarbamate (Na(I)[S2CNC4H10]) were dissolved
separately in deionized water (R > 18.0 MU). The metal ion
solution was mixed with the dissolved diethyldithiocarbamate
ligand solution with a ligand to metal molar ratio of 2 : 1. The
product formed immediately as a precipitate and was vacuum
filtered and dried. The molecular precursor was recrystallized
once from hot chloroform before use.
