From Repairing Electronic Systems (Automobile Technology)
In responding to feedback on the Goal Ranking and Matching technique, this vocational education instructor praised the class for listing many specific, practical learning goals related to understanding and repairing the complex electronic systems common in newer cars. He assured them that they could accomplish almost all of those “technical” goals through his course. At the same time, he pointed out two goals that he had included but that none of them had : (1) to learn how to stay current in skills and knowledge in this fast-evolving area and (2) to develop skill and confidence in clearly explaining diagnoses and planned repairs to customers. He invited class members to explain why these last two were also important goals, and several did so.
