Plugs have become the chosen method for
the production of young plants from seed.
Basically, a plug is a seedling that is produced
in its own individual container or cell (Figure
2). A plug tray contains many cells (72 to 800)
and these trays are commercially produced by
specialists. Plugs have many advantages: less
labor inputs, faster growing times, less root
shock and plant stress, and uniform growth of
plants in the final container.
