SELECTION OF OPERATIONS
Several construction operations were selected for the productivity study
that took place in the summer of 1987. The study focused on the operations
that did not progress at an acceptable rate and on the operations with which
the prime contractor did not have previous experience. These operations were
identified by consultation with the project superintendent and area supervisors.
Erection of tilt-up panels, installation of precast units, and placement
of metal studs and dry walls were video taped and examined. The data collection,
data analysis, and recommendations made for improving each operation
are described below.
