Daily voltage readings across the 950 O external resistor were taken to monitor the electrical performance of the CW-MFCs. Although system 3 failed during the course of the experiment, it may be worth future investigation with a more solid separator than glass wool. This arrangement allows the electrode separation to be brought to a minimum while increasing the proton exchange area by a factor of 4.6 which can be met with large increases in power. Additionally, 70% of the organics were removed from the wastewater before arriving at the anode and it has been shown that CW-MFCs work more efficiently under lower organic loads
