Apec vows to find solution
SINGAPORE: The 21 leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) forum are vowing to turn the Copenhagen meeting on climate change into a success. Apec leaders called an urgent meeting yesterday to discuss its role at next month's meeting.
Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya said Apec leaders agreed they should go to Denmark to resolve the issue.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday wrote to Asean leaders asking them to appoint representatives to discuss an Asean position on climate change.
Bangkok would host a meeting before next month's meeting.. Apec leaders issued a communique yesterday at the close of their three-day summit saying growth must be compatible with global efforts to protect the environment and mitigate climate change.
