Governors making decisions need the support of appropriate systems, to help to ensure
that decisions are implemented and that resources are used legally and efficiently.
A governing body may, for example, adopt the discipline of formally reviewing
implementation of a new policy after a defined initial period, to see whether it is
working as intended.
Risk management is important to the successful delivery of public services. An effective
risk management system identifies and assesses risks, decides on appropriate responses
and then provides assurance that the chosen responses are effective.
4.1 Being rigorous and transparent about how decisions
