3.2. Intestinal permeability
The effects of dietary supplementation with palygorskite on the
intestinal permeability indices are reported in Table 4. The concentrations
of endotoxin in plasma were lower in the palygorskite groups
(P b 0.05) than in the control on the two occasions. Compared with
the control, the diamine oxidase activities in plasma from the palygorskite
groups were significantly decreased (P b 0.05) on day 21
following palygorskite addition. The concentrations of D-lactate in
serum in 2000mg/kg and 3000mg/kg palygorskite were 9.9% and 28%
lower than in control, respectively, on day 21.
