It is evident from a Buddhist text ‘Millinda Panha’ that Menander was a follower of Byddhism. Probably, he embraced Buddhism after hearing the preachings of Nagasena. We also come to know from this book that “Sakala” (Sialkot) was the capital of the kingdom of Menander. It was a very beautiful city. One could see the flowing fountains, grassy gardens, pretty dowers and beautiful buildings in this city. Menander led a pure life and adopted the path of goodness. He became very popular among the people and he was worshipped like god.
