The effectiveness of the proposed flux estimator along α-β
axes needs to be verified before implementing it in the drive
system. Real time flux components calculated from exact
values of motor variables are computed and compared with
the estimated flux components and rotor angle. Fig. 4(a) & (b)
show the estimated α- & β-axis stator flux components
respectively. It can be visualized that accurate estimation is
possible by the proposed recurrent neural network. A
complete matching of the variables is indicated in the figures.
Fig. 4(c) shows the estimated angle which follows very
closely the actual angle deduced from flux components of
machine model which indicates that accurate position
estimation has been occurred. Fig. 4(d) shows the actual
phase currents for the motor. Very small switching notches
are shown in actual current waveforms that do not affect the
motor performance. The effectiveness of the hysteresis
current controller is established from the figure.
