Endurance. Stoltz (1997) defines it as the perception of time over which good or bad events and their
consequences will last or endure. It is a strong gauge of hope or optimism (www.peaklearning.com). It asks
two related questions: How long will the adversity last? And how long will the cause of the adversity last?
People with a high score on this dimension, may view success as enduring, if not permanent. Likewise,
he/she may consider adversity and its causes fleeting and temporary. The difference is that low AQ people
tend to see the adversity as a permanent state, while high AQ people perceive the adversity as a temporary
condition (Stoltz, 1997).
