Becoming a global enterprise
PLALOC ASIA (THAILAND)
PLALOC ASIA (THAILAND)
As the domestic Japanese market contracts due to a shrinking population, overseas markets offer great potential. Seeing Asia as a growing market, the company will focus on doing business overseas as well.
The continually growing countries of Asia are expected to see marked growth in types of food packaging materials and in their consumption in the future, in a manner similar to Japan´s postwar period of rapid economic growth. Idemitsu Unitech has the strength to propose comprehensive solutions for such markets, based on its food packaging materials of sheets, films, containers, and zipper tape.
To realize this goal, in January 2013 the company established PLALOC ASIA (THAILAND) in Chonburi Province, Thailand as its first overseas production facility, and in November 2013 a new PLALOC manufacturing plant was opened there. Plans call for exporting products in not just Thailand but also the ASEAN countries, China, South Korea, and elsewhere, to meet expected demand for food packaging materials, and expand its packaging materials businesses other than PLALOC in the future. The company would like to expand into Europe and the United States as well.
Capable human resources will be essential to development of new markets on a global scale, including those in Japan.
The company will focus its efforts on training employees and securing human resources including non-Japanese staff to be able to adapt to business developments overseas. Plans call for both increasing numbers of staff with work experience overseas and hiring employees from overseas as well.
Idemitsu Unitech will move forward with its transformation into an international firm deploying its technologies and quality at a global level.
