Since Group 6 transition metals carrying unusual oxidation states are relatively well studied, it is not surprising to see large number of applications of these species. For example, lithium chromium(I) dihydride is found to be a versatile reagent for reductive metathesis, reductive cyclisation, oligomerisation, and polymerisation of a diverse range of organic substrate [54], and further examples of application for chromium(IV) species were mentioned in the review written by Gould in 1994 [55]. Examples of catalytic activity can easily be found as well [56]. applications into solid state lasers and bio-medical studies are also known or chromium species.
