Building bridge
Re:Moving back from the edge while we can (Opinion,May 13).
As long as the PDRC continues to lock horns with the caretaker government and its supporters there will only be more chaos.
Why does the political gridlock continue to exist? Looking at the long history of street protests followed by military coups, one can assume Thailand's liberal democracy was created in a fit of absent-mindedness to join the western world; hence its core values have failed to flourish.
For more than a decade there has been a complete lack of bipartisanship to help the country move forward. As long as selfishness over service, politics over people, division over inclusion, cronyism over character, development over destruction, hurt over harmony, money over merit dominates the political culture there will be no progress.
Most people are dissapointed with the ongoing turmoil in the street. The PDRC leadership must build a bridge that brings all factions together. They will not be able to get anything done for the country if they make it a one-way road. This notion of an appointed PM is a formula for more partisanship, grid lock and inaction.
