Biological pretreatment
Degradation of the lignocellulosic complex to liberate cellulose can be brought about with the help of microorganisms like brown rot, white rot and soft rot fungi. Biological pretreatment renders the degradation of lignin and hemicellulose [28], [29] and [32] and white rot fungi seem to be the most effective microorganism. Brown rot attacks cellulose while white and soft rots attack both cellulose and lignin [32].
