The relatively simple lifecycle indicate that any interruption of the link between intermediate (pigs, cattle) and definitive hosts (humans) will lower the risk of contracting taeniosis /cysticercosis, so a major effort have traditionally been the emphasis on the identification and treatment of infected carcasses at slaughter, to prevent their assimilation in the human food chain.
