showed a greater increase in Tre and a lower skin temperature
compared to CON. The inverse relationship between skin and deep
body temperature in the M/E condition was most likely mediated
by menthol and ethanol (Gillis et al., 2010; Gillis et al., 2015). The
M/E condition contained 16.8 mg of menthol (0.2% of 80 mL), this
equated to 1.6 mg 100 cm2 of menthol spread over the upper
body.
