A number of condenser coil models have been proposed for the heat transfer performance
study. Ellison et al. [1], based on a tube-to-tube computation approach, presented an air-cooled
refrigerant condenser model for the condensers with speci®ed refrigerant circuitry. Anand and
Tree [2], modeled an air-cooled condenser using the ®nite dierence method. However, the
condenser was simpli®ed to be a single ®nned tube, the model is not applicable to coils with
complex refrigerant circuitry. Other existing air-cooled condenser models [3±8], all simplify the
coils and do not take into account the eect of refrigerant circuitry.
